RIYADH — The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued orange and yellow warnings for several areas across the Kingdom as sandstorms, blowing dust and brisk winds reduce visibility and pose a danger to motorists and commuters.
An orange warning indicating more severe weather conditions has been issued for parts of Eastern Province, including Jubail, Khobar, Dammam, Qatif, Ras Tanura, Al Khafji, Al Nuairiya, Qaryat Al Uriya, and Hafar Al Batin.
The warning will begin between 04:00 and 11:00 on Sunday and will last until 20:00.
In the Tabuk region, an orange alert was also issued for Alwaj and Umluj from 09:00 to 18:00 on Sunday.
Officials warned that persistent dust and brisk winds in these areas could reduce horizontal visibility to near zero, with a range of 1 to 3 kilometers.
A yellow warning indicating moderate weather impact has been issued for parts of the northern border region, Al Jawf region and Madinah region.
In the northern border areas, a warning has been in effect for Roughha, Al Uwaikira, Al Al and Turaif since 9am on Saturday, and will remain in place on Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.
In Al Jawf province, a yellow alert was issued for Domat Al Jandal, Sakaka, Al Qurayyat and Tubarjjar from 2am and 11:30am on Sunday, with an end time set for either 1pm or 6pm.
In the Madina region, a yellow warning is in place for Wadi Alfal from 12:00 to 18:00 on Sunday.
Horizontal visibility is expected to drop to 3 to 5 kilometers in areas under yellow warnings due to winds that stir up dust.
The NCM called on residents to be especially careful while driving and to follow official updates as weather conditions continue to change.
