Al Juf — The new Al Juf International Airport began operations on Wednesday, completing the complete transfer of flights from the old airport to the new facility operating under the Second Airport Cluster.

The new airport has an annual passenger capacity of 1.6 million passengers, compared to the previous airport’s approximately 175,000 passengers, representing a growth of more than 800%.

The passenger terminal, designed according to the latest international standards, has an area of 24,000 square meters.

There are 16 check-in counters (2 of which are self-service), 11 departure and arrival gates, 5 dual passport management platforms, and 648 parking spaces.

On Tuesday, the last flight departed from the previous airport to reach Riyadh.

In addition to services tailored to people with disabilities and similar cases, the airport also has a dedicated sensory room to serve travelers with autism spectrum disorders. The total area of commercial space is 1,700 square meters, reflecting our commitment to providing an inclusive travel environment.

The terminal’s design incorporates the historical identity of the Al Jouf region and includes approximately 5,000 square meters of green space adorned with the olive trees for which the region is famous.

On Tuesday, the last flight departed from the previous airport to reach Riyadh, marking the end of the operational phase. The transition to the new international airport was carried out in coordination with all relevant authorities, based on a comprehensive plan to ensure smooth operations.
