Monitoring carried out by Okaz revealed that by the end of the first quarter of 2026, the total number of private sector workers with doctoral degrees reached 11,110 Saudis and non-Saudis, of which the number of Saudis reached 8,341 Saudi men and women (representing 75% of the total number of doctoral degrees in the private sector).
According to government statistics-based monitoring based on approved certificates, the total number of Saudi men with doctorates working in the private sector is 5,150 and 3,191 women, while the number of residents with doctorates working in the private sector is 2,769, including 2,287 men and 482 women.
The total number of workers in the private sector amounted to approximately 13.57 million people, of whom 2.63 million were Saudis (1.1 million women and 1.53 million men) and 10.94 million non-Saudis (10.42 million men and 517.66 million women).
It is noteworthy that most of the jobs held by advanced degree holders (bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees) were held by Saudis, with the proportion of jobs held by holders (bachelor’s degree) reaching 89.99%, while the proportion of non-Saudis was 10.01%. Regarding jobs held by master’s degree holders, 65.38% of Saudis held jobs, compared to 34.62% of non-Saudis.
According to a survey conducted by “Okaz”, the total number of private sector workers with a “PhD” amounted to 11,110, including Saudis and non-Saudis. Of these, as of the end of the first quarter of 2026, the number of Saudi Arabians is 8,341, including both men and women.
