This was stated in a condolence letter sent by President Putin to his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian and published by the Kremlin, in which he said: “I express my sincere condolences for the death of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Khamenei, and his family in a flagrant violation of all standards of human morality and international law.”

In his obituary statement to the Iranian leader, which was published by the Tasnim news agency, he said that he considered the event to be the greatest disaster to hit the Islamic world today. Mr. Pezeshkian added that the assassination of the highest political official of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the hands of the American-Israeli Axis is tantamount to a declaration of war against Muslims around the world.
