JEDDAH — The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has predicted the probability of rain in several parts of the Kingdom from Wednesday evening to Thursday, based on the output of a Saudi numerical model.

According to the forecast, the rains are expected to affect parts of Asir, Al-Bah, Jazan and Makkah regions, and the weather system is expected to extend to Qasim region, northern and western parts of Riyadh region and Eastern Province.

NCM shared an animated weather map showing the movement and range of expected rainfall across the kingdom.

The rains are expected to start from Wednesday afternoon, moving north from the southern regions and affecting western Jazan and Asir regions, including Abha. In the afternoon and evening, the rain is expected to spread across Jizan, eastern Asir and al-Baha, reaching parts of the Mecca region, including Taif and northern regions.

During the same period, rain is expected in parts of the Riyadh region, especially al-Dawadmi and areas north of the capital. The rains are also expected to spread to areas between Riyadh and northern Eastern Province, with light to moderate rain reaching eastern Buraida in Qasim region.

By evening, the rain is expected to intensify and become more widespread, with heavier rain expected to fall from Al Dawadmi towards Buraida, reaching Al Majmaa in the Riyadh region, and eastward into parts of the Eastern Province. In Asir, heavier rains are expected to move north from Abha towards Al-Kunfuda.

Later on Wednesday evening, heavier rains are expected to affect large areas of the Riyadh region and northern Eastern Province, particularly Al Dawadmi and Al Majmaa, as well as parts of the Makkah region.

By early Thursday morning, rainfall in northern Riyadh will gradually weaken and move into northern Eastern Province, including Hafar al-Batin, with scattered rain likely to continue in eastern Riyadh. Rain is expected to stop in most areas by mid-morning.

Light rain is expected to resume in the southern regions later on Thursday, affecting parts of Asir and Makkah regions. By Thursday afternoon, rainfall is expected to intensify again in Abha, Jizan and Jizan and continue into the evening.

Rain is likely to accumulate east of Taif by Thursday evening, with gradual clearing across the kingdom by the end of the day.
