JAZAN — Rural tourism farms have become an increasingly important part of Saudi Arabia’s domestic tourism sector in recent years. Across the Kingdom, agricultural areas are being transformed into destinations that combine nature, hospitality and authentic rural experiences, reflecting the growing demand for nature-based tourism.

According to the Agricultural, Rural and Environmental Tourism Cooperative, there are approximately 450 licensed rural tourism farms in the Kingdom, highlighting increased investment in the sector and its expanding role in the national tourism landscape.

Radi Al Faridi, chairman of the association, said that activities related to local crops and products will enrich rural tourism and help visitors build strong connections with the destination. He pointed out that a successful rural tourism experience can introduce tourists to agricultural life, production processes and local products, as well as provide opportunities to taste and purchase them.

He said Saudi Arabia’s environmental and agricultural diversity creates a wide range of experiential opportunities, from date palm, rose and Saudi coffee plantations to orchards, honey plantations and seasonal harvest areas.

As the sector grows, rural tourism farms increasingly serve as gateways to local culture, agriculture and community life, supporting sustainable rural development.
