As part of its continued efforts to strengthen logistics connectivity, Sharjah Ports Customs Free Zone Authority (SPCFZA), in partnership with Gulftainer, a leading operator of ports, terminals and logistics services in the region, continues to advance the development of the Sajah Logistics Complex as a fully integrated complex platform linking the emirate’s ports with airports and industrial zones.
The more than 3 million square foot facility is expected to achieve an annual capacity of more than 850,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in the future.
The logistics complex forms a key element of the trade and logistics corridor linking Sharjah with the GCC and regional markets. This will support the development of more efficient and resilient transport routes that accelerate the movement of cargo, reduce transit times and strengthen integration between production centres, distribution hubs and consumer markets, further strengthening Sharjah’s position as a strategic gateway for trade and logistics services across the region.
Sajah Logistics Complex enjoys a prime location in one of Sharjah’s most important logistics connectivity hubs. The complex will facilitate seamless connectivity between the ports of Khorfakkan, Khalid, Hamriyah and Kalba on the one hand, and between industrial zones, commercial centers and logistics facilities on the other hand, providing businesses with a comprehensive operational platform to support faster cargo movement and increase the efficiency of import, export and re-export activities.
The complex will serve as an extension of Sharjah’s integrated port ecosystem, which stretches from Khalid and Hamriya ports on the UAE’s west coast to Khorfakan and Kalba ports on the east coast overlooking the Gulf of Oman. This unique geographical advantage strengthens Sharjah’s regional competitiveness and strengthens its maritime gateway and connectivity with local, regional and international markets.
The logistics hub also benefits from its proximity to Sharjah International Airport and several major airports across the UAE, further enhancing the integration of sea, land and air transport, while offering more flexible and efficient operational options tailored to the needs of diverse economic and commercial sectors.
Connection to the future UAE national rail network through the Etihad Rail project will further strengthen Sharjah’s readiness to adopt a more advanced logistics model based on the integration of sea, land, air and rail transport within an integrated operational ecosystem that supports sustainable growth in the trade and logistics sector.
The first phase of development will provide 15,000 TEU of storage capacity as part of a comprehensive expansion strategy aimed at incrementally increasing operational capacity. The complex is equipped with advanced infrastructure, including state-of-the-art warehouses, operating yards, and integrated logistics facilities that support storage, handling and redistribution activities, enabling it to accommodate growing trade volumes while efficiently serving local and regional markets.
A key operational element of the Sajar Logistics Complex is the dry port facility, which will be operated by Gulftainer and leverages the company’s extensive regional and international expertise. This improves operational efficiency while supporting seamless cargo flow throughout the supply chain.
Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority (SPCFZA) said the Sajah Logistics Complex reflects the emirate’s vision to develop advanced logistics infrastructure in line with the UAE’s broader goals of strengthening trade and supply chains. The project will achieve this through a modern operational platform that connects ports, airports, industrial zones and advanced transportation networks.
SPCFZA further noted that the complex is a valuable addition to the UAE’s transport and logistics ecosystem, strengthening supply chain resilience, improving trade flow efficiency and further cementing Sharjah’s position as a leading trade and supply chain gateway. It will also strengthen the UAE’s international competitiveness and strengthen its position as a leading hub in the field of international trade and logistics, while creating new investment and growth opportunities for local, regional and international businesses.
Sajaa Logistics Complex provides a fully integrated operating environment for companies across transportation, warehousing, distribution and logistics sectors. Leveraging its strategic location and direct links to ports, airports, industrial zones and major transportation networks, the complex will support increased operational efficiency by reducing logistics costs, shortening transit times and facilitating the seamless movement of cargo.
