RIYADH — The Ministry of Sports and the National Center for Privatization and PPP (NCP) announced on Monday that they will offer five sports clubs to investors as part of the Sports Club Investment and Privatization Project.
The ministry said the offering includes the clubs Al Riyadh, Abha, Al Fateh, Al Tay and Al Shura, and called on investors to submit expressions of interest and qualification documents for the acquisition of these clubs. The move is part of ongoing measures under the Sports Club Investment Privatization Project, which aims to increase private sector participation and promote open access to quality opportunities in the sports sector.
The ministry said the five clubs have completed the necessary regulatory procedures and are ready to offer to investors. Interested investors can submit their qualification application through the NCP website (https://www.ncp.gov.sa/en/) until July 5.
The ministry said that various sports clubs are preparing to participate in the project under a comprehensive framework that takes into account the level of readiness of each club and the seriousness and readiness of potential investors.
This approach is designed to ensure that all requirements for participation are met, increase the efficiency of the recruitment process and create a sustainable impact for both clubs and investors. The ministry said it continues to accept expressions of interest for the acquisition of sports clubs in accordance with project procedures and regulations.
The ministry said the recruitment process could take eight to 10 months to complete if a particular club receives interest. It also pointed out that domestic and foreign investors have clearly expressed interest in acquiring a significant number of sports clubs, with a total of over 80 expressions of interest registered to date for 22 clubs. This reflects the rapid growth of the project and the opportunity for private sector participation in the development of the sports industry.
Regarding the latest information on Al-Najma and Al-Ahdoud’s offers to the club, the ministry said that negotiations are currently underway and will then be at the stage of signing a contract ahead of the official announcement of the transfer of ownership to the new owners.
The ongoing implementation of this project aims to strengthen the club’s financial and administrative efficiency and create a more professional and high-performance sports system, in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 sports objectives.
