RIYADH — Saudi customs recorded 900 seizures of contraband at Saudi land, sea and airport ports last week.
The seized items include 133 drugs including hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and captagon tablets, as well as 291 other prohibited substances.
The customs port also witnessed the thwarted attempts to smuggle 1,975 types of tobacco products and their derivatives, 28 types of cash, and three types of weapons and related equipment.
The seizure was part of the Zakat Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA)’s continued efforts to strengthen security and protect society from prohibited substances of all types and forms.
ZATCA affirmed its commitment to maintain strict customs controls on Saudi imports and exports to ensure the safety and protection of society through continuous cooperation and coordination with all relevant partners.
The authorities called on the public to play their part in combating smuggling to protect society and the national economy by contacting authorities at the security reporting number (1910) or email ((email protected)) or the international number (009661910).
Through these channels, ZATCA ensured that reports regarding smuggling crimes and violations of the provisions of the Uniform Customs Law were received with complete confidentiality and financial rewards were awarded to whistleblowers if the information in the reports provided was correct.
