Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) completed a series of strategic water network projects in the first quarter of 2026, expanding, upgrading and replacing water infrastructure across the emirate over 70 kilometers in length.
Engineer Faisal Al Sarkar said these projects are part of SEWA’s continued efforts to expand major transmission lines and distribution networks in new areas and replace aging infrastructure with modern, high-efficiency systems.
He said these projects support the vision of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Parliament and Ruler of Sharjah, to ensure sustainable water supplies and improve services across the emirate.
The works included the completion of a 30.5-kilometre water distribution network in Al Sajjaa Industrial Zone and a 2.3-kilometre transmission line connecting Industrial Zones 11, 15 and 17, with a total construction cost of approximately Dh5 million.
SEWA also replaced Al Naseriya’s aging 20 km water network with new pipelines made of glass-reinforced epoxy (GRE), known for its durability and operational efficiency.
Additional projects included extending the Al Mourada 6 water pipe by 22 kilometers at a cost of Dh7.5 million and completing a five-kilometre water network in Al Juraina at an estimated cost of Dh4 million.
SEWA reaffirmed its determination to continue infrastructure development projects to strengthen the emirate’s water network, support urban and population growth, ensure resource sustainability and improve the quality of services to residents.
