stc Group, a leading digital enabler in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, announced that it has signed an agreement to implement the Silk Link project in the Syrian Arab Republic. The conclusion of this agreement follows the Group winning the implementation of the project after the participation of other regional telecommunications companies within a competitive framework.

The investment in the Slinklink project is estimated to be more than SAR 3 billion, and in addition to installing data centers and international submarine cable stations, it aims to strengthen infrastructure in the telecommunications sector and connect Syria regionally and internationally with a fiber optic network stretching over 4,500 kilometers. The project will also provide high data transfer capacity and reliability levels, enabling telecommunications operators in Syria and the region to offer advanced communication services, support digital applications, cloud services and the Internet of Things, improve the quality of the Internet and increase the efficiency of digital infrastructure within Syria.

It is worth noting that the Silk Link project comes as an extension of the STC Group’s strategy to expand investments in cross-border digital infrastructure and build a regional connectivity system linking Arab, Asian and European markets, thereby strengthening the Group’s position as a leading digital enabler in the region and supporting sustainable growth plans in the communications and digital services sector.
