Amman, March 14, 2025 – Mohammed bin Hassan Moanes, the Charge d’Affaires at the Saudi Embassy in Jordan, delivered crucial financial support to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) on behalf of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This contribution is set to help UNRWA fulfill its financial obligations and ensure the continuation of its vital programs aimed at supporting Palestinian refugees across the region.
The financial aid, which underscores Saudi Arabia’s long-standing commitment to supporting Palestinian refugees, will directly benefit essential UNRWA programs in the West Bank and Gaza. These programs focus on providing education, healthcare, and emergency relief to some of the most vulnerable populations in the region. UNRWA plays a critical role in sustaining the well-being and dignity of Palestinian refugees, offering access to quality education, medical care, and vital services.
Tamara Alrifai, the Director of External Relations and Communications at UNRWA, expressed her gratitude for the Kingdom’s generous support. She highlighted that the contribution would significantly enhance the agency’s ability to continue its work, particularly in the face of mounting financial challenges. Alrifai further emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s timely assistance would help strengthen UNRWA’s educational and healthcare initiatives, which are critical to improving the lives of refugees who have been displaced for decades.
This donation is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader humanitarian strategy to support displaced and vulnerable populations, especially Palestinians, whose plight remains one of the most urgent issues in the Middle East. The Kingdom has been a consistent donor to UNRWA over the years, playing an instrumental role in enabling the agency to continue its mission to provide essential services to Palestinian refugees.
The financial assistance delivered by Saudi Arabia reaffirms the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause and its dedication to addressing humanitarian needs in the region. As the situation of Palestinian refugees remains dire, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued support to UNRWA serves as a crucial lifeline, ensuring that essential services and programs continue to benefit those most in need.
