WASHINGTON — The United States and regional partners strongly condemned the indiscriminate and reckless missile and drone attacks launched by Iran across the region, according to a joint statement released Sunday.

The statement was issued by the governments of the United States, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates in response to recent attacks targeting sovereign territory across the Middle East.

The countries said the attacks struck Bahrain, Iraq (including the Kurdistan region of Iraq), Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), calling them unprovoked attacks that endangered civilians and damaged civilian infrastructure.

“Iran’s actions violate the sovereignty of multiple states and represent a dangerous escalation that threatens regional stability,” the statement said.

“Targeting civilians and countries not taking part in hostilities is reckless and destabilizing.”

The signatories affirmed their solidarity in defending their people, sovereignty and territory, and reiterated their right to self-defense in the event of attack.

The two leaders also expressed their continued commitment to regional security and praised the effective air and missile defense cooperation that contributed to preventing greater loss of life and destruction.
