AD Ports Group signs contract to develop and operate a multi-purpose terminal at Matadi Port in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Abu Dhabi – AD Ports Group today announced the signing of a HoT with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Openness of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. National Transport Agency (ONATRA SA) for the development and operation of a multi-purpose terminal at the Port of Matadi in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The main parts of the Covenant were signed by Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, at the Presidential Court in Abu Dhabi. Captain Mohammed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group;

This preliminary agreement establishes a cooperation framework between AD Ports Group and ONATRA SA to explore the development and operation of a multipurpose terminal at Matadi Port, with the aim of strengthening the operational efficiency and capacity of the port, supporting the growing trade volumes of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and facilitating rational and efficient import and export flows.

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, said: “We are pleased to enter into a preliminary agreement with the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Openness and ONATRA SA to explore the development and operation of a multi-purpose terminal at the Port of Matadi, one of the most important maritime gateways to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.”

He added: “The Democratic Republic of the Congo is a strategic nation in Africa, bordering nine countries and serving as a natural hub for regional trade and connectivity. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to strengthen the country’s access to global markets and support long-term economic development initiatives in Africa, in line with the vision of our country’s wise leadership.”

AD Ports Group continues to expand its presence across Africa with existing port, logistics and maritime investments in countries such as Egypt, Tanzania, Angola and the Republic of Congo, supporting regional trade integration and long-term economic development.
