In a joint statement on Wednesday, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye emphasized the importance of strengthening political and economic cooperation and reaffirmed their determination to continue cooperating to maintain international peace and security.

The statement was issued after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud met with President Erdogan at Al Yamamah Palace in Riyadh.

“Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued coordination and strengthening of efforts to maintain international peace and security. The two leaders exchanged views on matters of mutual concern at the regional and international levels and emphasized their determination to strengthen cooperation and joint coordination on these issues and their continued support for all efforts aimed at establishing peace and stability in the region and the world,” the statement said.

“Regarding recent developments in Palestine, both sides expressed deep concern at the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, the ongoing Israeli aggression, and the obstruction of humanitarian assistance and border crossings. They stressed the importance of intensifying relief operations in Gaza and promoting the unhindered opening of all borders to ensure the delivery of much-needed humanitarian assistance across the Strip.”

Regarding Yemen, both sides affirmed their support for Yemen’s legitimate government and stressed the importance of maintaining Yemen’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.

They also stressed the importance of confronting any attempts to divide Yemen.

Regarding Syria, the statement called for preserving Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and realizing the Syrian people’s aspirations for development and prosperity.

Both countries once again condemned Israel’s repeated violations of Syria’s territory and sovereignty and called for Israel’s immediate withdrawal from all occupied Syrian territory.

Regarding Somalia, both sides rejected the declaration of mutual recognition between Israel and the so-called “Somaliland” region and affirmed their unwavering support for the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity.

In the economic, trade and investment fields, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye praised the strength of their economic ties and agreed to further strengthen them.

The two leaders also agreed to take advantage of the investment opportunities provided by the Saudi Vision 2030 and the Turkiye Vision Century for the mutual benefit of both economies.

According to the statement, the two leaders emphasized the importance of their respective roles in contributing significantly to the energy supply of the region and the global market.

The leaders confirmed their desire to strengthen cooperation in the field of electricity and renewable energy, leveraging the rich experience of both countries in renewable energy integration and Saudi large-scale energy investments. The two leaders also welcomed exploring opportunities for cooperation in the field of clean hydrogen.

Regarding defense and security, both sides agreed on the need to activate the agreements signed between the two countries in the field of defense cooperation.

“We affirmed our desire to strengthen and develop our defense relationship in the interests of both countries and contribute to achieving regional security and stability, including through multilateral cooperation platforms,” the joint statement added.
