Saudi Arabia on Monday reiterated its unwavering support for the unity, security and stability of Sudan and stressed the need to maintain legitimate state institutions.
Saudi Arabia called on the Rapid Support Force (RSF) to immediately cease its violations and comply with its moral and humanitarian obligations. This includes ensuring the delivery of relief supplies to people in need, in line with international humanitarian law and the Jeddah Declaration for the Protection of Sudanese Civilians, signed on 11 May 2023.
Saudi Arabia made the statement during the two-way dialogue on the oral presentation of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on the situation in and around El Fasher. The session was attended by the Saudi Mission to the United Nations in Geneva and other international organizations.
Permanent Representative Abdul Mohsen bin Kotaira issued a statement reiterating Saudi Arabia’s “strong condemnation of the gross human rights violations committed during the RSF attack on El Fasher.”
He specifically highlighted that “recent criminal attacks on medical facilities, relief convoys and civilian infrastructure have left dozens of displaced and unarmed civilians, including women and children, dead.”
