Saudi industry minister and European Commission officials discuss strengthening economic partnership

BRUSSELS – Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkholayev held two bilateral meetings with European Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuika and European Commissioner for Trade, Economic and Security Maroš Šefčović at the European Union (EU) Headquarters in Brussels.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed cooperation between the two countries to promote economic security and integrate global supply chains, ensure the smooth flow of international trade, and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s position as a vital partner in securing supplies of critical minerals around the world.

During the meeting with the Commissioner for Europe and the Mediterranean, the Minister explored ways to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation and widen the horizons of the Saudi-EU partnership. He affirmed Saudi support for regional and global economic security and the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthen coordination on issues of mutual interest, thereby strengthening economic stability and resilience amid global change and transformation.

In his meeting with Maroš Šefčović, Mr. Alkhoraev discussed the trade outlook, strengthening the security of global supply chains, securing the supply of critical minerals, exploring opportunities to integrate industrial value chains between Saudi Arabia and European Union countries, and expanding joint investments in priority sectors.

The two meetings come within the framework of the minister’s visit to Belgium, which aims to exchange expertise, strengthen cooperation with European countries in advanced industries, and attract quality investments to the Kingdom in support of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
