In the last five weeks of January 2026, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center project “Masam”, which removes landmines from Yemeni land, was able to clear 2,692 landmines across Yemen. They included 12 anti-personnel mines, 70 anti-tank mines, 2,602 unexploded ordnance, and eight explosive devices.
In Hodeidah governorate, the Masam team removed one unexploded ordnance in Hayes district, eight unexploded ordnance and one explosive device in Al Qawqa district.
The team cleared 6 anti-personnel mines, 12 anti-tank mines and 2,215 unexploded ordnance in Al Mukalla district of Hadramout governorate, and 3 anti-personnel mines, 56 anti-tank mines, 326 unexploded ordnance and 6 explosive devices in Midi district of Hajjah governorate. Al Mudaraba District, Lahij Governorate.
In Shabwa Governorate, the team cleared three anti-personnel mines in Bayhan District, one anti-tank mine and one unexploded ordnance in Al Muqa District, and in Taiz Governorate, they cleared one anti-tank mine and 46 unexploded ordnance in Dubab District, and one unexploded ordnance and one explosive in Sarrou District.
Thus, the number of landmines cleared during the month of January increased to 7,554, while the number of landmines cleared to date since the start of the “Masam” project has increased to 537,505, these are landmines planted randomly in various territories of Yemen to take the innocent lives of children, women and the elderly and to instill fear in the hearts of the safe.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Relief Center, continues to work to clear landmines from Yemeni land as part of a project to increase the safety of civilians and enable Yemeni brothers to live dignified and safe lives.
