The Islamic World League (MWL) welcomed the Syrian government’s announcement of a ceasefire agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces, which was agreed upon in a comprehensive agreement that included the integration of autonomous institutions into the Syrian state institutions, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday.
In a statement, MWL Secretary-General Sheikh Mohammed Al-Issa expressed his gratitude for the mediation efforts led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States, and praised the active engagement of both sides. He said the agreement supports the Syrian people’s desire for security and stability.
Mr. Al-Issa reaffirmed the Federation’s full support for the Syrian government’s continued efforts to protect its people while preserving the country’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
On Friday, the Syrian government and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced they had reached a “comprehensive” agreement to cease fighting across the country and begin the gradual integration of military, security and administrative institutions.
