Saudi Arabia on Saturday strongly condemned the attack by rapid aid forces on a humanitarian convoy in Kordofan, Sudan.
Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the attack on Al-Quweik Military Hospital, a humanitarian aid convoy associated with the World Food Program, and vehicles transporting displaced people, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“These actions are unjust under any circumstances and a clear violation of all humanitarian norms and relevant international agreements.”
“Saudi Arabia calls on the RSF to immediately stop these violations and fulfill its moral and humanitarian obligations by providing safe and unimpeded humanitarian assistance to those in need, in accordance with international humanitarian law and the Jeddah Declaration signed on May 11, 2023,” it added.
Saudi Arabia reiterated its firm position in support of the unity, security and stability of Sudan and the need to maintain its legitimate institutions.
The government rejected “foreign interference and the continued actions of certain parties to supply illegal arms, mercenaries and foreign fighters, despite expressing support for a political solution,” stating that “such actions are the main factors that prolong the conflict and exacerbate the suffering of the Sudanese people.”
A day after a World Food Program aid convoy was targeted, an RSF drone attack struck a vehicle carrying displaced families in central Sudan on Saturday, killing at least 24 people, including eight children, a doctors’ association said.
The attack occurred near the city of Rahad in North Kordofan state, according to the Sudanese Doctors Network, which tracks the ongoing war in Sudan. The group said in a statement that the vehicle was transporting displaced people fleeing fighting in the Dubaika area. Two infants were among the children who died.
