Today (Saturday), the Syrian Ministry of Communications, following the signing of a framework agreement between the two sides, announced the start of executive operations of a partnership with the Saudi company “Elm”, which specializes in digital solutions, within the framework of supporting and accelerating the digital transformation process in Syria.
In a statement issued through its official account, the ministry explained that this step represents the transition to the practical phase of the partnership, which aims to develop digital infrastructure to enable government agencies to provide more efficient electronic services and accelerate the pace of digital transformation in a way that contributes to improving the quality of services provided to Syrian citizens and institutions.
Syrian Minister of Communications Abdul Salam Haykal said his ministry is building a digital industry, localizing technical knowledge, recognizing and employing Syrian talent, and strengthening qualitative partnerships for the transfer of expertise and the development of government service systems. He pointed out that the choice of Elm was due to the company’s track record and experience in the field of digital transformation, which allows it to employ national capabilities and establish fruitful partnerships with Syrian companies.
Mohamed bin Abdulaziz Al Omail, CEO of Elm Company, then explained that the company has started working with the Ministry to translate the agreement into implementation initiatives and projects, underscoring its desire to become an active partner in supporting Syria’s digital transformation by transferring expertise, providing advanced digital solutions, training and hiring local executives, and building a sustainable operating model in cooperation with the Ministry.
The announcement was made during an official event attended by Abdul Salam Haykal, Minister of Communications of Syria, Talal Al-Hilali, Director General of the Syrian Investment Authority, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Omail, CEO of Saudi Elm, and a delegation from the company.
In order to have a concrete impact on the development of government services in Syria, Elm Company will hold a technical event entitled “Flag Day” under the auspices of the Ministry on Monday, February 16, in addition to holding a series of meetings with government agencies and presenting executive projects for digital transformation.
