The World Defense Show opened in Riyadh on Sunday, bringing together defense and military companies from around the world to showcase their advanced technologies, as Saudi Arabia accelerates efforts to localize its military industry and strengthen domestic supply chains.
The third exhibition will be held from February 8th to February 12th under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and organized by the Directorate General of Military Industries.
It will involve official delegations, government agencies and international companies active in the defense and security sector.
The event is part of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to build a comprehensive defense industry and localize more than 50 percent of military spending, while increasing operational readiness and strategic autonomy.
Ahmad Al Ohri, Governor of the General Directorate of Military Industries and Chairman of the Exhibition’s Monitoring Committee, said the exhibition reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to innovation, localization, and development of an integrated defense ecosystem.
He said the exhibition will include live demonstrations in the air and on the ground, static exhibitions, and newly introduced zones to strengthen cooperation between government agencies and major national and international defense companies.
World Defense Show CEO Andrew Percy said the event will feature a comprehensive program, starting with an official delegation initiative that brings together senior officials, investors and industry leaders to support international industrial and technology cooperation.
Percy said the Defense Industry Lab will focus on emerging technologies and applied research, while the dedicated zone will focus on naval systems and the Saudi supply chain, connecting local manufacturers and small and medium-sized enterprises with global companies.
The program also includes meetings between Saudi government agencies and industry representatives to discuss operational requirements and investment opportunities.
He added that the venue includes a fully integrated airport with a 2,700 meter runway, four aircraft taxiways and a large exhibition area, allowing the exhibition to host integrated air, land and sea demonstrations.
Attendance at the 2026 edition is expected to exceed previous shows, reflecting growing international interest in Saudi Arabia’s defense market.
The South Korean Air Force aerobatic team “Black Eagles” will participate in an exhibition in the Middle East for the first time. The South Korean Air Force announced that it will deploy nine T-50 fighter jets, including one reserve aircraft, four C-130 transport aircraft, and approximately 120 personnel.
