Foreign ministers from many Arab and Islamic countries on Sunday strongly condemned Israel’s repeated violations of the Gaza ceasefire, which have left more than 1,000 Palestinians dead and injured.
The FMs of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt and Turkiye said these violations were a “dangerous escalation that increases tensions and undermines efforts to consolidate ceasefires and achieve stability.”
They cited Israel’s violations even as regional and international actors move forward with implementing the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan.
These violations are a “direct threat to the political process” and efforts to achieve suitable conditions that will pave the way for a more stable phase in Gaza, both at the security and humanitarian level.
The FM called for full commitment to a ceasefire to ensure the success of the second phase of the peace plan.
Leaders called on all parties to take full responsibility at this critical juncture and exercise utmost restraint to maintain the ceasefire and avoid any measures or practices that undermine peace efforts.
The Leaders underlined the importance of reaching a just, comprehensive and lasting peace, and emphasized the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state, in line with international resolutions and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative.
