GAZA — Israel has killed at least 20 Palestinians in attacks across Gaza, medical officials said Wednesday, in the deadliest days since a “ceasefire” began in October.

Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City said it had received the bodies of 13 people, including five children, killed in attacks on tents and houses in the eastern districts of Zeitoun and Tufa.

Al Jazeera reports that 14 people have been killed by Israeli shelling in northern Gaza.

Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis said four dead people, including a child, were taken there after Israeli forces shelled tents of displaced people in the Kizan Abu Rashwan area south of Khan Younis.

Two more people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the al-Mawasi tent camp. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said one of the dead was an emergency worker.

Hospital officials said six children were among those killed in Gaza City and the Khan Yunis region.

The Israeli military said its armored forces and aircraft carried out an attack in northern Gaza after a reserve officer was seriously injured by gunfire.

The report said the injured officer was evacuated to a hospital after the incident, which occurred “during routine operations” near the so-called “Yellow Line” that delimits areas under Israeli military control.

It added that armored forces and aircraft carried out precision strikes in the area in response to what it deemed a “clear violation” of the ceasefire agreement.

Israel and Hamas have accused each other of violations almost every day since the ceasefire went into effect on October 10.

The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry said at least 529 people were killed by Israeli shelling, and the Israeli army said four soldiers were killed in Palestinian attacks. — Agency
