In the framework of Saudi Arabia’s continued support to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and facilitate transportation to Saudi Arabia and other countries, Mourad Al Khalidi, Director of the Yemen Aviation Office in Jeddah, revealed to Okaz an arrangement to operate direct flights from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to a number of governorates in Yemen, including Al Mahra and Shabwa, which are currently being completed. The aircraft is ready for flight and is scheduled to begin operations next week.
Mr. Al Khalidi explained that these measures are based on the directives of Dr. Rashad Al Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Guidance Council, and include increasing the number of flights from Al Rayyan Airport and Sayun Airport to Jeddah, in addition to expanding the number of overseas destinations, including Dammam City, in the coming period.
Al-Khalidi highlighted the Yemeni Airlines management’s eagerness to keep pace with the changes and benefit from Saudi support aimed at facilitating travel for expatriates, patients and visitors, noting that the opening of the Socotra route is not the last of the company’s future plans.
He added that there is continued coordination with the Saudi Yemen Development and Reconstruction Plan, which will serve as a real window to support the Yemeni people and alleviate their suffering, strengthen air connectivity, and contribute to opening new horizons for humanitarian and service work.
