Imam Ashour, star of Egypt’s Al Ahly club, today (Saturday) apologized for not being able to travel to Tanzania with his first football team delegation to prepare for the African Champions League match against Young Africans.

Last Thursday, Al Ahly announced a two-week suspension for Imam Ashour, in addition to fining him 1.5 million Egyptian pounds (the club’s largest ever fine for a player) for not traveling to Tanzania with the team delegation.

Imam Ashour wrote on his Instagram account: “Unfortunately, there are many false and inaccurate stories being told about what happened. I accept the decision taken by Al Ahly and trust that the club officials will understand my situation well. I have a bad cold, a high body temperature and am suffering from unusual fluctuations in my stomach. I am receiving antibiotics, but unfortunately my whole family is suffering from the same symptoms.”

Admission of mistake and apology

He added: “I informed the team doctor, Dr. Ahmed Jabara, about my health condition and my inability to travel. This is an insufficient procedure in that respect, but I made a mistake in good faith. I was supposed to contact the director of football, captain Walid Salah El-Din, and report to the technical director to arrange medical treatment in case I was unable to travel.”

He added: “The matter has been resolved. Last night I contacted the captain Walid Salah El-Din. I am in charge of the club and the fans of Al Ahly support me in imitation of the Lord Almighty. I apologize to the club, to the technical staff, to my colleagues and above all to the fans of Al Ahly.”

“I’m proud to play for the biggest club in Africa and the relationship with its great fans can’t be divided into two. I want everyone to get this over with. And whoever says I want the arm of the club, I say to them, God is enough for me and God is the best to handle things. No one can give me the arm of the club and I can never think like this.”

“It was an honor to wear the red shirt and during my three years at the club, I did not ignore the rights of Al Ahly and its fans, and this is their right to me. My presence at Al Ahly makes up for everything. Good luck to my colleagues and the technical staff. In the match against Young Africans, we were able to achieve a victory that everyone at Al Ahly was pleased with,” he concluded his message.

Egyptian Al Ahly club star Imam Ashour has apologized for not being able to travel to Tanzania with the first team delegation for today’s (Saturday) African Champions League match against Young Africans.

Last Thursday, Al Ahly announced that Imam Ashour would be fined 1.5 million Egyptian pounds (the club’s largest ever monetary fine for a player) and suspended for two weeks for failing to accompany the team’s delegation to Tanzania.

Imam Ashour wrote on his Instagram account: “Unfortunately, there are many false and false statements circulating about what happened. I accept any decision made by Al Ahly and believe that the club officials are very understanding of my situation. I am suffering from a bad cold, high fever, unusual stomach fluctuations and am taking antibiotics. Unfortunately, my entire family is suffering from the same symptoms.”

Admitting mistakes and apologizing

He added: “I informed the team doctor, Dr. Ahmed Gabara, of my health condition and my inability to travel. This is not enough, but I made a mistake in good faith. I should have contacted the team manager, captain Walid Salah El-Din, informed the coach and followed the medical protocols in the event of my inability to travel.”

He added: “The matter has been resolved. Last night I contacted the captain, Walid Salah El-Din, and he is committed to the club. The fans of Al Ahly, in imitation of God Almighty, have my support. I apologize to the club, the coaching staff, my teammates and above all, the fans of Al Ahly.”

He continued: “I am proud to play for the biggest club in Africa and our relationship with its great fans is not up for debate. I ask everyone to put an end to this and to those who say they want to put pressure on the club, I say this: God is enough for me and He is the best to handle things. No one can put pressure on the club and I will never think like that.”

“It is an honor to wear the red shirt. During my three years at the club, I have never neglected my duty to Al Ahly and its fans. This is their right to me. My presence at Al Ahly makes up for everything. I wish my teammates and the coaching staff all the best and hope that we can achieve a victory against Young Africans that will please all Al Ahly fans,” he concluded his message.
